Strong, rich browns come from Walnut dye. A native plant to Southern Ontario, this powerfully permanent dye has been known to colour papers and textiles alike. Come and explore the possibilities of Black Walnut dye – a source may even be growing near you!
In this 2 day workshop, students will learn the basics of dying with Black Walnut dye – from what the dye is, through the steps needed to prepare a working vat, and on to various methods of dying with it. In addition, students will leave with 20 sheets of gelatine sized dyed paper.
