Jesse and Charles run Toronto Distillery Limited Co., a small start up distillery based out of the Junction in Toronto, ON. We knew immediately that we had met kindred spirits. Their product, Ontario Organic Wheat Spirits, is not only incredibly refined and delicious they are all about sourcing high quality and local ingredients, making something really special in small batches.

They took one of our handmade cotton and hemp mix business cards that we had letterpress printed and thought it would be a perfect match for their bottles and in keeping with the belief to support local, independent businesses. We sourced Ontario hemp fibre, soaked, beat and hand pulled each sheet for their neck tags. We designed the front, inside and back of the tags, illustrating their distiller and cocktail recipe. Each tag was hand printed on a letterpress at Graven Feather , our Artscape neighbour. All 2000 labels are finished- cutting, hole punching and strung with hemp cord at Paperhouse Studio with the help of our beloved interns and volunteers. We completed the first run of 1000 labels to help launch the first batch of Toronto Distillery’s Ontario Organic Wheat Spirit for the LCBO in September 2013. It was so popular that we just finished batch #2 – 2000 bottles in Feburary 2014. Buy straight from these guys here. Or check out the LCBO availability here. We have been working with these guys since then and it has been an amazing experience, a fun filled deliciously boozy collaboration of independent businesses making local products. We look forward to more yumminess (maybe an Organic Beet Spirit?) coming out next year! Stay on the look out for more colourful tags!
