2017 TOBAF x zipe

In partnership with SKETCH and Toronto Art Book Fai (TOABF), Paperhouse Outreach Collective facilitated a week-long ZIPE (TOABF x ZIPE) workshop for youth and young adults aged 13 to 29 who identify or ally with LGBTQIA2S, disabled, and POC communities.

TOABF X ZIPE explored the artists’ book as a mode of self-expression, socio-political discourse, and the distribution of ideas and creative skills. Participants created, printed, and published their own artists’ books and zines under  the guidance of local artists with strong voices within the LGTBTQIA2S, disabled, and POC communities. The four-day workshop lead up to the Toronto Art Book Fair, where participants sold their work.

TOABF X ZIPE acted as a safe and inclusive space for participants to talk openly about social barriers, personal experiences, and explore alternative methods of storytelling.
